Ceramic Lining
Services

RSC Group provides ceramic lining services for mining operations, mineral processing plants and industrial facilities where equipment is exposed to abrasive material.

Using alumina ceramic liners and ceramic wear tiles, we protect chutes, hoppers and other material-handling equipment against wear. Each system is configured around the equipment geometry, material flow and operating conditions.

Protecting equipment
in high-wear areas

As ore and other abrasive materials move through processing equipment, repeated contact can wear away unprotected steel. Impact at transfer points may accelerate deterioration in sections that receive a concentrated material stream.

Once the substrate has been compromised, equipment may require repairs or replacement. Material can also escape through worn sections and affect the surrounding plant area.

Industrial ceramic lining places a wear-resistant barrier between the moving material and the equipment beneath it. The protective coverage is concentrated across the zones exposed to the highest levels of wear.

Our ceramic lining capabilities

Across new installations and equipment rehabilitation projects, RSC installs ceramic wear linings for a range of material-handling applications.

Capabilities include:

  • Chute ceramic lining
  • Hopper lining
  • Bin lining
  • Pipe and elbow lining
  • Transfer-point protection
  • Alumina ceramic liners
  • Ceramic wear tiles
  • Replacement of damaged ceramic lining
  • Rehabilitation of worn steel substrates
  • Wear protection around discharge points
  • Inspection and repair of existing lining systems

The lining configuration is determined by the component design and the wear pattern identified across its internal surfaces.

Ceramic wear tiles for chutes & transfer points

Within chutes and transfer points, the arrangement of ceramic wear tiles must follow the direction and concentration of the material stream.

Tiles are positioned to provide continuous protection across the exposed surface. Particular attention is given to joints and changes in profile, where gaps could allow abrasive material to reach the steel beneath the lining.

Where impact is concentrated in a specific zone, the installation pattern can be adapted to provide suitable protection in that area. Tile dimensions are also selected to follow the shape of the equipment without leaving vulnerable sections exposed.

Alumina
ceramic
liners

Where high abrasion is expected, alumina ceramic liners provide a hard protective surface capable of resisting repeated contact with moving material.

The ceramic grade and liner thickness are selected according to the service conditions. Material characteristics and impact levels must also be considered when specifying the system.

Depending on the application, liners may be bonded or mechanically secured to the prepared substrate. The attachment method must suit the component and remain secure throughout operation.

Surface preparation
& installation

Before installation begins, existing lining material and loose contamination are removed. The underlying steel is then examined for wear or damage that could affect the new system.

Repairs are completed where needed before the substrate is prepared to meet the lining specification. Accurate setting out helps ensure that the tiles follow the equipment geometry and maintain coverage across the required wear zones.

Throughout installation, the selected bonding or fastening method is applied in accordance with the system requirements. The completed ceramic lining is inspected for secure attachment and consistent coverage before the equipment returns to service.
