Industrial Rubber Lining Services
RSC Group provides industrial rubber lining services for equipment exposed to abrasion, corrosion and demanding process conditions.
Rubber linings can be installed inside tanks, pipes, chutes and other assets to create a protective layer between the substrate and the material moving through or stored within them. Each scope is planned around the asset configuration, operating environment and rubber lining system specified for the application.
Protection at the point of contact
Slurries, chemicals and abrasive materials can place industrial equipment under continuous strain. As material moves through pipework, chutes and processing systems, repeated contact may wear the internal surface and affect vulnerable areas such as bends, joints and transitions.
Industrial rubber lining provides a resilient barrier across the underlying substrate. Depending on the specified system, the lining may be used to protect equipment from wear, corrosion or a combination of operating conditions.
The rubber grade, thickness and installation method are determined by the project specification and intended service. Asset geometry, process material and operating temperature may also influence the selected system.
Our rubber lining capabilities
RSC undertakes rubber lining work for new equipment and existing assets undergoing maintenance or rehabilitation.
Applications include:
- Pipe rubber lining
- Tank rubber lining
- Chute rubber lining
- Process vessels
- Hoppers and launders
- Materials-handling equipment
- Slurry systems
- Mining and mineral-processing equipment
- Localised lining repairs
- Removal and replacement of deteriorated linings
The scope may involve lining a newly fabricated component or replacing a system that has reached the end of its service life. Where an existing lining is removed, the exposed substrate can be inspected before preparation and relining begin.
Rubber lining for pipes and tanks
Pipe rubber lining protects the internal surface of pipe sections used to transport abrasive or corrosive materials. Bends, flanges and changes in diameter influence how the lining is fitted and joined within the pipe.
RSC plans pipeline lining around the dimensions of each section and the required interfaces between components. The completed sections must align correctly during assembly so that joins and transitions do not leave the substrate exposed.
Tank rubber lining may be used on storage tanks, process tanks and vessels operating in corrosive or abrasive environments. The installation must accommodate tank bottoms, walls, welds and internal fittings while maintaining continuous coverage across the specified area.
For existing assets, access, cleaning and removal of the previous lining are incorporated into the work sequence where required.
Wear-resistant rubber lining
Chutes, hoppers and materials-handling systems often contain impact zones, directional changes and high-contact areas. These sections may experience concentrated wear as material passes through the equipment.
Wear-resistant rubber lining is applied across the specified internal surfaces to shield the substrate from direct contact with the process material. The lining layout is planned around the shape of the asset and the areas identified within the project specification.
Transitions, corners, seams and termination points require close attention during installation. Maintaining coverage across these areas supports the continuity of the lining system throughout the asset.
Preparing the substrate
The condition of the substrate influences how effectively the rubber lining can be installed. Rust, contamination, residual lining material and surface irregularities must be addressed according to the requirements of the specified system.
Following the removal of an existing lining, the substrate can be examined for corrosion or damage that may need attention before work continues. Surface preparation is then completed to create the condition required for the lining application.
RSC can coordinate abrasive blasting, HP and UHP water jetting or other preparation activities included in the project scope. The prepared surface is checked before the lining materials are installed.
Installation & inspection
Rubber lining installation is planned around the material requirements, asset geometry and conditions within the work area.
During application, attention is given to the positioning and fit of the lining, joins between sections and coverage around corners, fittings and other changes in profile. Any curing or setting requirements are managed according to the specified system.
Inspection points may cover:
- Condition of the prepared substrate
- Lining thickness and placement
- Seams, joins and overlaps
- Coverage around fittings and transitions
- Termination points
- Condition of the completed lining
The inspections and project records required will depend on the agreed quality plan and lining specification.
