Industrial Scaffolding Services
RSC Group provides industrial scaffolding services for construction, maintenance, inspection and rehabilitation projects across Africa.
Scaffolding is planned around the structure, work activities and operating conditions of each site. RSC erects, modifies and dismantles access systems for industrial plants, mines, processing facilities, power stations and oil and gas environments.
Access designed around the work
Industrial scaffolding must provide practical access to the area where work will take place. The position of platforms, access routes and working levels will depend on the structure and the activities being completed.
RSC considers the dimensions of the asset, intended use of the scaffold and conditions surrounding the work area. Planning also accounts for the personnel, tools and materials that need to be accommodated.
Where scaffolding supports another RSC service, the access configuration can be aligned with the requirements of the team undertaking the work. This may include surface preparation, protective coating application, insulation or cladding.
Our industrial scaffolding capabilities
RSC provides scaffolding erection services for access to:
- Structural steelwork and industrial buildings
- Tanks, vessels and silos
- Pipe racks and process equipment
- Boilers and plant infrastructure
- Conveyors and materials-handling systems
- Chimneys and elevated structures
- Areas undergoing inspection, repair or coating
- Oil and gas facilities
The scope may involve an individual access structure or scaffolding across several areas of a facility. RSC plans the personnel, materials and erection sequence around the site programme and work fronts that need to be made available.
Scaffolds can be modified as project requirements develop, subject to the applicable inspection and authorisation controls.
Access in complex industrial environments
Petrochemical facilities, power plants and processing operations contain extensive pipework, operating equipment and congested work areas. Scaffolding in these environments must be planned around restricted spaces, site access controls and the activities taking place nearby.
RSC provides petrochemical scaffolding and power plant scaffolding for construction, shutdowns, inspections and scheduled maintenance. The project team coordinates with client representatives and other contractors to manage access routes, work areas and interfaces between disciplines.
For ongoing operations, scaffolding activities are planned around the site’s safety requirements and operational constraints.
Scaffolding for shutdowns & maintenance
Shutdown scaffolding must support a defined sequence of inspection and maintenance activities within the available work period. Access may be required by several disciplines at different stages of the programme.
RSC coordinates the erection, modification and dismantling of scaffolding with the project schedule. This allows work areas to be released as required and helps limit disruption between related activities.
Additional access needs may also become apparent once equipment, surfaces or structural components can be inspected. RSC can respond to these changes through controlled scaffold modifications that account for the work still to be completed.
Erection, inspection & control
Before scaffolding erection begins, RSC reviews the work area, supporting conditions, intended use and interaction with surrounding operations.
Trained scaffolding teams erect, alter and dismantle the structure according to the approved project requirements. Access remains controlled until the required inspection has been completed and the scaffold has been cleared for use.
Further inspections and site supervision help maintain the integrity of the structure while it remains in service. Alterations are managed by authorised personnel so that changes to the scaffold are properly controlled.
Plan your industrial access
Need industrial scaffolding for a shutdown, maintenance programme or specialist work at height? RSC Group can plan the access solution around the asset, activities, site conditions and project schedule.
