Industrial Tank Lining Services
RSC Group provides tank lining solutions that protect the internal surfaces of storage tanks, process vessels and containment systems.
The lining requirements are determined by the tank substrate, stored product and operating conditions. RSC undertakes tank lining work during new construction, planned maintenance and the rehabilitation of existing assets.
Protecting internal tank surfaces
Internal tank surfaces may come into contact with water, chemicals, hydrocarbons, slurries and other industrial materials. Over time, this exposure can contribute to corrosion, wear or deterioration of the substrate.
A tank lining forms a barrier between the internal surface and the material being stored or processed. The specified system must be compatible with the contents of the tank and suitable for the expected temperature and service conditions.
For existing tanks, the condition of the substrate may only become fully visible once the tank has been cleaned and the old lining or coating has been removed. This inspection helps identify corrosion, damaged areas or repairs that need to be addressed before relining begins.
Our industrial tank lining capabilities
RSC provides tank lining services for new and existing industrial assets.
Capabilities include:
- Storage tank lining
- Internal tank coating
- Tank bottom lining
- Chemical-resistant tank lining
- Epoxy tank lining
- Removal of deteriorated lining systems
- Surface preparation
- Lining renewal and rehabilitation
- Application inspection and quality control
RSC applies the system specified for the tank in line with the agreed project and material requirements. Where additional services are needed, the tank lining programme can incorporate HP or UHP cleaning, abrasive blasting and access solutions.
Planning work inside a tank
Industrial tank lining takes place within an enclosed work area, which influences access, ventilation, lighting and the movement of personnel and equipment.
Before work begins, the tank must be isolated and made available in accordance with site requirements. RSC reviews the tank dimensions, entry points, internal configuration and services to be completed when planning the work.
Cleaning, preparation, application and curing stages are sequenced around the lining system and available maintenance window. Coordinating these activities helps the project team manage the tank from initial access through to final inspection.
Tank bottoms, welds & vulnerable areas
Tank bottoms are exposed continuously to the stored product and may also be affected by deposits or sediment. Welds, seams, edges and other irregular profiles require careful preparation to support continuous lining coverage.
During rehabilitation work, RSC prepares these areas according to the project specification. Localised deterioration identified after cleaning or surface preparation is recorded and addressed within the agreed scope.
The lining is then applied across the prepared surface, with particular attention given to transitions, joints and other areas specified in the inspection plan.
Surface preparation & lining controls
The tank substrate must meet the required preparation standard before lining application begins. Depending on the existing surface and project specification, preparation may include cleaning, removal of the previous lining and abrasive blasting.
The prepared surface is inspected before application. During lining work, controls may cover material preparation, application conditions, coverage, curing intervals and the condition of the completed system.
Inspection points and project records are managed according to the agreed quality requirements. The tank proceeds to handover once the required application and inspection stages have been completed.
